La Casa Roja was founded in Barcelona by Anna Lucia Pinto, gender equality specialist, facilitator and women’s health and yoga practitioner, after more than fifteen years working internationally on women’s rights, equality and social change.
It grew from a question:
What happens when we connect what we know about equality with what women actually experience in their bodies and everyday lives?
For years, Anna Lucia studied why gender inequalities exist — while living many of them in her own body. Painful periods, medical struggles, relationships that asked her to take up less space than she needed: her body had been trying to tell her something long before she knew how to listen.
It was yoga that first gave her a place to breathe. Later, training in therapeutic yoga for women, hormonal health and trauma-informed practice changed not only how she taught, but how she understood inequality itself: it isn’t only studied. It’s lived — often in the body.
La Casa Roja grew from that meeting point: between research and lived experience, between public policy and everyday life, between changing organisations from the outside and helping women change their relationship with themselves.
A place to menstruate in peace. To understand her body. To rest. To move at her own rhythm. To find out who she is. To heal. To enjoy life again.
That place became La Casa Roja.

A safe place to say what we don’t always get to say.
La Casa Roja is a space where women can talk about what too often stays unspoken — our cycles, our exhaustion, our doubts, our desire,
our anger, our joy.
We believe that knowing our bodies is how we come to know ourselves — and that the more clearly we understand ourselves, the more clearly we can lead our own lives, and meet each other with real respect.
We believe that care and agency are not opposites here.
One grows from the other.

An Interdisciplinary Collective
Today, La Casa Roja is becoming a collective space shaped by the women who participate in it, and by a growing network of collaborators from different disciplines — women’s health, yoga traditions, embodied methodologies, inclusive pedagogy and social justice — each bringing their own form of knowledge and practice.
